"When responding to case studies, its important to read the whole case and form your opinion. Your response to case studies, should be a MINIMUM of 50 words and needs to include what YOU would do if YOU were put into the situation."
Ready the study below,
All year long you plan Service Learning Trips for students and no matter how well you try to plan them, something always comes up . This year, you have one trip planned to leave for Guatemala where they are going to spend the week teaching leadership in various High Schools . You also have another trip planned to go to the Dominican Republic to work with low-income families and orphans . Both are going to share a bus to the Miami Airport because they fly out at similar times (the Guatemala team flies out 25 minutes earlier than the Dominican Republic team) . In order to make their flights, they are scheduled to leave at 5:00 a .m . for the bus ride that will take an hour and a half to get to the airport .
While the Guatemala team arrives on time, the Dominican Republic team is missing their male student leader . Along with being one of the trip's leaders, he is also the only male going on the trip because all of the others needed to drop out due to financial reasons . Attempts to reach him or his roommates on the phone have proved to be unsuccessful and it's now 5:30 a .m .
In planning these trips, you told everybody that you would leave people behind if they don't wake up on time, but that's not so easy to do in this situation . The Dominican Republic trip, while not overly dangerous, would face some serious complications without a male presence on the trip . However, if more time is taken to wait for this leader, the Guatemala team might miss their flight . The student leader lives about fifteen minutes away from campus, but it's on the way to the airport, so you decide to start driving and hope he answers his phone before you get to his apartment .
As you get closer to where the leader lives, he still hasn't answered his phone . You could pull into the parking lot to knock on his door, but every minute spent waiting for this leader makes it highly possible that you'll run into rush hour traffic in Miami, which would most likely result in the teams missing their flights .
> What would you do?
I think they should knock on his door and if he doesn't wake up then they should just leave without him. It really is his fault for not waking up on time so maybe next time he should set many of alarms instead of just one so he actually wakes up.
ReplyDeleteI would knock on his door once and if he didn't wake up in two minutes I would leave him. He knew about the trip for a year and he had plenty of time to plan for this trip. I would feel bad leaving him behind but it is his own fault.
ReplyDeleteI think that you should go to his house and tell him to get up or we are leaving you so if you don't get out of bed right now we are going to leave you or at least call his house until he wakes up and tell him to get here soon or we are leaving
ReplyDeleteI would leave the leader and hope that he could find another flight later on in the day. Even though he missed the first flight hopefully he can catch another one and still make it there that day.
ReplyDeleteI would pull into the parking lot since it's not so far away and quickly knock on the door. Although I don't think we would necessarily need a male accompanying girls, there could be other complications. He could've lost his phone or something else like that. If he doesn't answer the first time I pounded on the door I would head back to the airport. If it's only 15 minutes out of the way, it wouldn't make much of a difference if I were to leave earlier, which I would do.
ReplyDeleteEasy, go get him. If he is that important to the mission a extra 2 minutes is fine. I live in Florida so rush hour can be annoying and I fly probably around four times a year. So even if you have to run to your gate people will move. Things happen and you have to problem solve. Mine in this story, is get him up. Bring two people with bang on the door and once he gets up because of how loud you are help him. Have the others carry his bag and ect. You will get there if you try if not, fly out tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI would call his roommate if he has one and try to find out where the male leader is. I would only wait about 5 minutes at his door and if he is still not answering I would leave him because it is not worth everyone missing the trip because of one person.
ReplyDeleteI would try to find where the male leader is. If he didnt show up i wouldnt worry because thats his problem
ReplyDeleteI would knock on his door and figure out why he was late. Tell him to hurry up before we are late for our flight. And if we miss our flight reschedule for another time and contact the people that were expecting you and tell them what happened.
ReplyDeleteI would try finding him. If we couldn't find him in a certain amount of time then I would leave. The reason why I would leave him was because he didn't show up on time that would be his problem not the rest of the peoples. He was responsable for it.
ReplyDeleteI would leave the leader and hope that he could find another flight later on in the day. Even though he missed the first flight hopefully he can catch another one and still make it there that day.
ReplyDeleteI would keep calling him and going to his apartment. I would call everybody that might have contact with him. If he wasn't answering I would try to find someone quickly to come and do it. Or I would change one of my guys in my group to be the leader of theirs. Another thing that I would do is give the woman a choice to go with out the leader and they might get some problems or they could just come in our group and experience something different then they originally thought.
