1/27/15 Case Study (50 word min)

Harmless Request?

Gina Marie was recently hired to work as a receptionist for the front lobby.  The company she works for prefers that new hires start at reception and then work their way up.  As a receptionist, she is also responsible for making copies for company associates.  Her friend Bryson stopped by the office during his lunch break to ask her to make 300 copies for him for a college project.  he waited until the last minute to do this and needs them this afternoon.  he brought a package of printer paper from home, but she would still be using the company copier and company time to get it done.  If Bryson doesn't get the copies, he will fail this project.  The company copier does not require a security key, nor do they keep track of the copies made by departments.

What should Gina Marie do?

  1. I would help him out but I would ask for permission to do so first. I think that Gina's boss would be understanding about the situation and would allow Gina to help him out so he doesn't fail his project. I think that helping him print papers wouldn't be a big deal but I would ask my boss first so I don't get in trouble and get myself fired.

  2. I think it would be nice for her to help him. It would be the right thing to do although she should probably ask first. If she is that concerned about it I think it would be smart to get permission first. I don't think copying papers would be a very big deal but I guess it does matter. She should ask first.

  3. I would ask him how much time he has. If he had enough I would direct him to a library or somewhere that had a copier. Wouldn't his college have a copier? The office maybe? If he didn't have much time I would then ask whoever runs the place for permission. It's 300 copies. It takes us a long time to do the newsletters so it would take a long time to do this many, too. I wouldn't want to take up the time that other people could be doing.

  4. I would ask for permission and make sure there is nothing that I need to do for that afternoon. Also I would search if there is any other copiers around town or even at the college he goes to. Maybe he could do that. Because I wouldn't wasn't to loose my job over someone else's project.

  5. Either A. don't do it at all you need this job or you wouldn't have one in the first place or B. get permission. Most people are understanding and this if allowed would be only a one time deal but it is worth it to ask first. It's simple really just take a breath and be logical.

  6. I would ask permission so that i don't get fired for helping him. If i had the time over my lunch break i would make them but i would tell him that this is a one time thing and they i can't risk losing my job because he was unprepared or i would tell him that there are other places that he could go get the copies made it will cost money but that is his fault not mine.

  8. I think that she should help him if she won't get in trouble with the company that employs her.If the company is alright with it then she can help her friend and not get into trouble. If she will, then she needs to tell her friend Bryson that she can't help him and that she's sorry.

  9. If i were her i would tell him its his own problem. He wasnt responsable enough to get his own things done. Why should she put her job at risk or take her time for his college when he was being lazy anyway. He will never learn if he doesnt learn to solve his own problems and take responsability for it.

  11. it would be ok cause he is using his own paper it could be bad or good if she got in trouble she could loss her job and that would be bad and its his fault cause he shouldn't have procrastinated it not your fault and you don't want to loss your job so she should ask permission and if she can't oh well she need to protect her self and job and its your problem cause he should be responsible
