Monday 11/3/14 Case Study (50 Word Minimum)

The Case of the Inadequate Planning

A group of students decide to hold a benefit concert for a local charity, which will need to close its doors if it doesn't receive enough funding .They go through the work of reserving space, inviting members of the President's cabinet, and placing posters around campus and in the community . Many churches are excited about the event and plan on bringing their youth groups to it . The charity is very excited by the concert because it will keep their doors open, the students are excited because they are able to help make a significant difference in the community, and the administration is happy because it's great publicity for the school; everybody wins .

One week before the concert, it is abundantly clear that the students did not make adequate arrangements for lighting, sound systems, or security . Unless more sound and lighting are reserved before the event, the concert will be a disaster and without enough security, the safety of those who attend could be in question . Your repeated and increasingly urgent reminders have gone unanswered because the students think you're just overreacting .

> What would you do?
> At what point would it become necessary to cancel the event?

  1. I would keep asking the people and make sure they get it done. Obviously it is a big deal and big fundraiser. If we don't try and not really care on this fundraiser the next one or just in general no school or church will take us seriously. They might think we are just in it for the money or something like that. These are little things that probably should have gotten done in the first place so they need to fix it.

  2. I would ask them many of times to get it done. They should be willing to get it done because the fundraiser could help them out a lot. You should try or there is no point in doing it.

  3. I would possibly post-pone the event if needed and continue to tell others of the problem. If i post-poned the event and can't do anything more, I would put the supplies and people I do have by first security, then sound, and finally lights. If the event didn't go as planned and I would tell the crowd the problems as nicely as possible. Hopefully we could host an event again the right way.

  4. I would make sure I was on their tail until they get it done. I would also get a lot more involved with the planning of it to see if I could get somewhere. If it was totally late I guess I'd have to see if we could postpone it to a later date. If there is no other time I guess I'd have to cancel. Of course I'd be irritated and so would the others, but the students really should have shown responsibility and time management.

  5. I would continue to tell them to get securety or it will not happen If you do not do this you will not be able to have the concert I think it is important to do this because without it their will be no safety and thus kids will make bad decisions witch could hurt someone or something in the long run this is ehy rules need to be inforced.

  6. I would push people t get what they need for the next few days. People have been looking forward to it and it sounds like it really needs to happen. It would be good for everyone who is able to attend to the event. I think if it absolutely cant happen they should cancel it three days before. They need to give people time so they can plan accordingly.

  7. I would not cancel the event i would reach out to the community to get more support. If he students will not help. I would post pone it a week if i don't have enough to help. I would encourage the student to get behind it with an incentive.

  8. I would make sure that they are going to respond because they were told to do something. If it comes to it I will cancel the event because me and the other students couldn't make sure that everything was reserved on time. People's safety would be in trouble if security was not there, and other reservations just don't show up.

  10. I would not cancle the event. I would make sure i got done what i wanted done and not let anything else happen besides getting my securety done and not letting stupidity get in the way, but if people really didnt do anything and or appreciate it then id just stop and let the people decide if they actually want it or nah.

  11. I wouldn't cancel the even because the kids and the community have put in so much work already. Why just quit on something that you've worked so hard to gain already? I think that they should keep asking people to help and maybe ask if they can donate more money to gain sound and lighting. I'm sure if they helped get this far they can help get it done.
