I think that I was motivated by my dad to begin because he is a farmer and he works very hard. I think that I will participate in ag partially because it sounds like fun and also because I live on a farm and it would just make sense for me to be engaged in the topic. I think that seeing Brittany participate in these activities kind of made me want to join and be involved as well. My brother and dad were also involved so I think it would be cool if I joined in too to keep the pattern going. I enjoy learning about the different things that are involved in ag and all the different topics you can learn about.

ReplyDeleteI detasseled these past two summers and the main reason was because wanted to start earning money and saving for a car and college. My friends were another reason I detasseled. I didn't want to be bored at home all summer while they were working. I also learned that hard work and dedication your job is good for you. You to put in effort to the job you are doing. The particular that made me be interested in detasseling were my parents. I didn't want to have to ask them for money everyone time I needed it. I wanted to be able to earn my own money.
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested in babysitting because I've always loved children and caring for them. I have so many younger family members that I've grown up with since I was four years old. I was motivated by my parents who really pushed for me to find a way to earn some extra money. My neighbors also really wanted me to babysit for them. I ended up starting to babysit when I moved into an area with quite a few kids. Growing up with my nieces and nephews, and also moving to the area with kids, really made me have more of an interest in babysitting. I think that the main reason, honestly, was the opportunity to earn money. There aren't many jobs for 13 and 14 year olds. I'm really glad that I started to babysit.
ReplyDeleteMy job is working at home. Why did I begin? Because even though my parents are heroes they can't do everything.I also am only 15 and can't get a job in Hampton. So I naturally help around the house to receive money for my school and social events. How may this involve agriculture? I help with my dog and two cats by feeding them, cleaning them, and looking after them in generally. We have a few plants around the house and outside and I water and plant them during the summer and spring. One more thing I do is cook. I love trying new recipes! I learn different ingredients or foods.
ReplyDeleteMy job right now is working at the Danish Oak. What inspired me to work there is the fact that my dad was the founder and owner of Danish Oak. I would always watch and see pictures of the refinishing or cabinetry he had done. I always thought it was really cool. This summer I started working there actually full time for the summer. I really enjoyed it and felt I learned a lot from it. I am excited for this next summer to learn even more and be able to do things more on my own without having to get taught and someone watching me. And who knows maybe when I get older me and my brother will take over his business.

ReplyDeleteMy SAE is detasseling. The reason I started to detassel was to get money to help pay for school stuff and clothes that I would need for the school year. I was wanting to be independent and not have to depend on my parents to help pay for school stuff. My father and brother both suggested that I try it for my first year and if I didn't like it to not worry about doing it the next year. My first year I didn't like who I was working for. I wasn't paid as much as I was during my second year of detasseling for The Outfield, in fact my second year earnings were 3 times more than my first year earnings with Woff Co. My parents were always paying and buying everything that I would need for school and I thought it was time for a change. I thought that maybe by detasseling that I would be able to help them. So I've detasseled for about 3 years and it has helped me and my parents drastically. They no longer pay for the things that I will need.
ReplyDeleteMy SAE is detassling. The reason i started is because i wanted good work ethic and i wanted to earn some money for school clothes and just extra goods that i want. Detassling also looks good on in your record book. Also detassling helped me keep in shape during the summer. I have detassled for about 3 years and it has showed me many things along the lines of discipline. It also made my mom able to save up a little bit of money and gave me something to do to keep me out of trouble. I have stayed loyal to my detassling crew The Outfield. If it wasnt for my parents i wouldnt have had experience what a real job feels like and im thankful for them making me experience it. Starting earlier in life is good because it takes time and effort to go to college and get a car. Without a job you cant do any of those things.

ReplyDeleteI think the reason that I participated in ag was because I grew up around it. I have been doing ag related things since I was born. My dad and aunts and uncles all where in it and I thought that I should do it also. Another reason was because I thought it would be fun to do it. I also mow lawns. Its not that fun you know but I get paid for it and later on in my life it will help me in some way. The reason I started mowing was because my cousin graduated and someone needed to my my grandparents lawn.
I have detasseled for 2 years and worked at the Country Lavender Farm. I was mainly motivated to work these jobs so that I could have money for a car in the future and be able to have money so that I can go shopping with my friends and not have to ask my parents for money. These experiences will help me in the future because they are both hard jobs that taught me the value of hard work. My older brothers and sister have detasseled in the past and I would wait for them to come home because I would have to sit at home while they got to go have fun and work. I feel that this experience is beneficial because with out knowing of the value of hard work you will never truly appreciate they value of what they have on their dinner plates and where they came form.
