3/18/15 Case Study (50 word min)

Logan is a great supervisor and well respected by his coworkers.  Several months ago, he hired Danielle.  It was obvious he liked her as more than a colleague from the beginning.  He was very flirtatious and gave her extra attention during training.  He was always there to rescue her or make excuses when she made a mistake.  Now they are a couple and growing increasingly more affectionate at work.  They sometimes disappear at break time and no one knows where they are.  Even though Danielle is the newest hire, Logan givers her the preferred work schedule, most desirable days off and preferential treatment.  Logan has been distracted on the job and is making mistakes affecting his coworkers.  His coworkers are getting annoyed, and morale is going down.  They have asked Michaela, another co-worker, to talk to Logan because she is his friend.  Michaela had a crush on Logan in the past and wonders if he would actually listen to her or just think she's jealous.  What should Michaela do?

  1. I think it is very important that Michaela talks to him about it. She needs to have other co workers go in there with her so he knows more than just her feels very strongly about it. If she was the last hired she shouldn't get special treatment she needs to work up to be able to pick when she works. The other co workers that have been there longer should get the say.

  2. I wouldn't talk to him if I was Michaela because he might think she is jealous so I would make the other coworkers talk to him because they are the ones complaining. If they are having a problem with them not paying attention to work then they should be the ones to talk to Logan about it.

  3. First of all, I wouldn't have had Michaela talk to him, probably someone higher up. But, if I was Michaela I would try to find someone else to talk to him because I wouldn't want my personal life to come into play when talking to him. I feel like it would be awkward to talk to him having a crush on him. I would try to have all of the workers get together and talk to him so that he knows your serious.

  4. I think that Michaela needs to sit him down and give him a slap to the face. She needs to be stern with him and I think that way he may listen. Sometimes a slap to the face is what we all need. I think maybe she should have the rest of the crew be there too. I think he will then realized how out of term he was.

  5. Michaela should talk to him and if he doesn't change anything someone else needs to. A working environment is not the place for this kind of behavior. It is obviously distracting them from their work and something needs to change that.

  6. She should talk to him about it and he doesn't change his behavior then someone else should talk to him. This is not a good place for him to be with the behavior he has. He is just distracting everyone else from them working so they cant get done what they need to get done.

  7. I think michaela is saying the right thing. Its not fair to have a relationship when you work together because you can treat them differently and have advantages that they havent worked for. Its a bad place to be when you work with someone you love. Maybe not for the person you love but for everyone else that has worked so hard to get where they are.

  8. If I were Michael I would go to his supervisor or tell them that they need to stand up and confront him them selves rather that hid behind her. If she does talk to him and he asked I would tell him that it has nothing to do with her own feeling but the quality of the work environment. If he still didn’t understand I would send in complaints to his managers.

  9. Micheal should go to his supper visor and complain but not with any lip that gets u nowhere and just tell him that no one gets work done because he is just so distracting.

  12. If I were Michaela I would go to Logan and tell him his problem and make him see his errors. If he told me that I was just jealous then I would go to the supervisor and tell him about Logan. Obviously if Logan thinks I'm jealous then he's not a good friend. Hopefully then the supervisor would do something to help Logan see his mistakes.
