  1. NFU hopeful on release of RFS timeline
The EPA announced today that it will release the long-anticipated 2014 – 2016 proposed volume targets for the RFS on June 1, 2015. Johnson noted that the EPA’s proposed target levels from November 2013 were unacceptable and that the volume standards are supposed to be a significant help in establishing the market for biofuels.

  2. Meeting the growing demand for ag teachers
I think we'll be okay after seeing how many people at the convention wanted to have a career in agriculture. I even filled out an application form thing, and I know a lot of other people did too. Ag is definitely something that we need to have so right now it is kind of concerning.

  3. Lowe's to eliminate 'Bee-killing' pesticides.
Home improvement chain Lowe’s Cos Inc says they will stop selling a pesticide that is killing the bees in Washington. neonicotinoids, or neonics, are sold by agrichemical companies to boost yields of staple crops but are also used widely on annual and perennial plants used in lawns and gardens. The bees pollinate about a fourth of the american agriculture food.

  4. Meeting the growing demand for ag teachers
From going to State FFA I think we really wont have to worry about that because besides living a legacy or leaving one of those. Thats all we really talked about we had multiple ag teachers go up there and tell us stories on how they became ag teachers and what we can do to become ag teachers. So I think our generation there will be multiple ag teachers.

  5. California water mysteriously missing
In the Sacramento area a large amount of water has mysteriously disappeared. This is not good because California is already in a drought so this just makes it worse since this was one of the biggest supplies of water that they have in California. I am now curious to see where all of the water went.

  6. Meeting the growing demand for ag teachers
A growing demand for agricultural education and FFA programs in schools across Nebraska, paired with a critical shortage of agricultural education teachers in the state, is bringing the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture (NFBFA) and the Nebraska FFA Association together to promote opportunities to encourage more students to look at agricultural education as a career path.

  7. Lowe's to eliminate 'Bee-killing' pesticides - This home - improvement store is stopping the sell of neonicotinoids (bee pesticides) that are supposedly causing the honey bee population to drop. Scientists, consumer groups, and bee keepers say that the bee deaths are linked to the neonic pesticides. The population drop is worrisome for agriculture, because honey-bees pollinate plants that provide 1/4 of the food consumed by americans.

  8. California water mysteriously missing
I sure hope that they are not over using their rights to the water since they are not the only ones in need of the water in this drought. I also hope they are being truthful and willing to give the amount of water they used. In times like this we need to be thoughtful of not just ourselves but others also.

  9. More U.S. flocks infected with bird flu.
This could become a real issue. Bird flu or H5N2 can kill an entire flock within 48 hours. This could affect more people than you would think. If H5N2 becomes even more spread the prices of chicken will raise for the consumer. Chicken may be relatively inexpensive right now but it my raise if the virus spreads farther.
